Who Is The Greatest?
Who Is The Greatest?
Read: Matthew 18:1-5
Before the disciples had asked Jesus the question, Jesus had taken Peter, James, and John up on a high mountain and they had met Moses and Elijah there. after when they came down and continued the discussion about who is the greatest among themselves, Peter, James and John boasted about themselves as they got a chance to meet Moses and Elijah on a mountain.
People who are famous boast about themselves. For example, there is 2 employee in the office Jake and Aaron so Jake gets promoted to head of the department and he gets double the salary, so eventually, he will start boasting in front of Aaron. Here Jake is committing a sin by boasting and Aaron commits a sin by coveting. Proverbs 27:1 “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring”.
According to Jesus, to be the greatest we must be like gentle, humble and not knowing what is evil. God loves Jesus because of his soft/humble heart. Matthew 19:14 Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Look at the line 'for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.' Jesus says again that in order to be the greatest in heaven one should be like children soft and humble.
Let’s see Matthew 20:16 “so the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen”. In verse 4 Jesus says that a child is the lowest position a family, why? In a Nuclear Family, the father is the head then the mother and then the children, they are the last as they are the smallest. But, for godchildren are the first (Proved by Matthew 20:6).
A person is not called a child by his/her age or personality but they are a child if they have a soft heart and are humble. So, we should try to be like a child. AMEN
