Healing:- The Bronze Serpent

Read: Numbers 21:6-9
     

Have anybody of you wondered why the logo of most of the hospitals and clinic is with a snake and what does it mean? If we see in Numbers 21:6-9 God had commanded Moses to make a bronze serpent and put it on a pole so that whoever is bitten by the snake looks at it will be healed. 

Like the serpent was lifted up on the pole because of the sins the Israelites had done in the same way Jesus was lifted up on the cross for our sins. As the Israelites looked at the serpent and got healed in the same way when we look at Jesus Christ and believe in him we shall not perish but have everlasting life and forgiveness. And it was also the warning/indication that Christ will come down to do that.

Jesus himself says in John 3:14-15 And as Moses lifted the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son Of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him shall have eternal life. Israelites were saved by looking at the snake on the pole. Similarly, all believers can be saved by the sickness of sin by looking at Jesus death and resurrection. It does not mean that we should look at the cross in Israel but the true meaning is that we must look at the person who is always by our side who came into this word for us and died for us JESUS.

So, don’t look at the snake on the pole that healed the people. It's our trust/faith/belief in God which will heal us. AMEN.
