Baptism
Baptism
Read: John 3:1-21
There are two types of baptism, one is water baptism and the other is baptism by the holy spirit. Both of these are important. Baptism by the holy spirit means accepting Jesus completely with all our heart, mind and soul and the water baptism means going on the resurrection cycle with Christ.
The above image shows that we are crucified with him (Romans 6:6) which means before we got baptized either by holy spirit or water we are dead in Christ, buried with him. (Romans 6:4) As we go inside the water we go to the place of Jesus Christ who was in the tomb and risen with him (Colossians 3:4) means as we step out of the water we come of the burial ground as Jesus came out of the tomb and was risen.
As Mark 1:14 says that baptism is the sign of repentance and will be forgiven. We might question why to take water baptism when we have already accepted Christ as our saviour. If we have taken or got one of these baptisms and don't take the other, our believing in Christ is incomplete. We need both of these to completely be Christ's believers. The table below shows our life before and after we become complete believers:-
