Last Saying Of Christ: 1st Saying

Last Saying Of Christ: 1st Saying

Read: Luke 23:34[a]

Jesus's first word on the cross was (Luke 23:24[a]) Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”. So, this first saying of Christ mainly teaches us to forgive and love others.

Let us relate this saying to a parable of Jesus. Matthew 18:21- 35.

The parable teaches us that forgiveness should be in like proportion to the amount forgiven. The first servant had been forgiven all, and he then should have forgiven all.

Jesus died for us facing all the insult like a few days before on Palm Sunday the people were welcoming Jesus to Jerusalem like a king but a few days later they accused him and said that he must be crucified if Jesus wanted he could have brought an army of angels from heaven, but he was merciful and instead of having grudge he asked the father for the forgiveness of our sins. In like manner, a child of God by faith through Christ has had all sins forgiven. Therefore, when someone offends or sins against us we should be willing to forgive him from a heart of gratitude for the grace to which we ourselves are debtors.

So, now in the final days of our lent season let us forgive everyone and release our anger, depression, sadness, loneliness, etc knowing that Christ has taken all of these on the cross for us. AMEN.
