The 10 Commandments Series: Relationships

The 10 Commandments Series: Relationships

Read: Exodus 20:12-15

Even though we don't know the 10 commandments, commandments which are thought to us by our parents or elders when we are small.

The first one is 'Honor your mother and your father' which must be kept even if not thought to us. Ephesians 6:1 says that honouring your mother and your father is the first commandment with promise. Once children get older they do not care about their parents and leave their old parents in old-age homes, but in Proverbs 23:22 it clearly says that we should not despise our parents.

Killing is not only against the law of the world but also against the law of heaven. The authority of our death is only in the hands of God. Above all, if anybody (A religious person) who kills someone who is innocent (Who does not know Christ) is a Sinner. As discussed before. It is in the commandment because God cares about both of them the killer and the one being killed. To prove it read Matthew 26:52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all, they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Jesus does not only care about Peter but he also cares about the soldiers who are going to arrest him. (What would you do if you were Peter would you obey or disobey).

Committing adultery is a great sin. Adultery leads to Divorce is against even in the New Testament. Matthew 5:27-32 and Matthew 19:1-10 these verses are all about adultery. There is a question arising in Matthew 19:7 They said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce and to put her away?”. The answer to this question answered by Jesus is because of the hardness of the people hearts for no love for their wives, but it was not allowed from the beginning.

Now we go to our next commandment and it is "Do not steal". It does not only mean stealing one's property or money but means stealing a lot of o-things which can also be seen from the 5th commandment stealing respect if broken, 6th stealing life if broken or 7th stealing one’s spouse. Stealing does not only mean hurting financially but also means mentally. Stealing includes stealing of life (Killing), the person (Kidnapping), spouse (Adultery), material property (Theft), intellectual property (Copying in exams), dignity (Humiliation), and trust.

These commandments are to be followed by each and every believer of Jesus, as they lead us to a good and blessed life. AMEN.
